The SFA APPROACH
San Francisco Achievers takes a comprehensive, multi-stage approach to uplifting African American young men across San Francisco. Rooted in equity and opportunity, our work spans high school, college, and early career pathways—ensuring young men are supported not just academically, but personally and professionally.
Our High School Achievers Program is embedded directly in partner schools, providing culturally responsive mentorship, academic support, and early college and career exposure. We help students stay on track with A-G requirements, improve study habits, and navigate the path to higher education. Through workshops, campus visits, and real-world learning experiences, students gain clarity and confidence in their postsecondary goals.
The Leadership Academy—our flagship junior and senior-year initiative—develops young Black men into community-minded leaders. Scholars receive intensive training in self-advocacy, civic engagement, financial literacy, and workplace readiness. They explore college and career pathways through internships, networking opportunities, and skill-building experiences that prepare them for life after high school.
Our Scholar Success Program supports Scholars beyond high school with a renewable scholarship of up to $18,000, paired with wraparound support services such as advising, community building, and career preparation. Whether pursuing a degree, certification, or workforce opportunity, our goal is to ensure every Scholar graduates with purpose and a plan.
Together, these three programs form a powerful pipeline—from high school to college and into early career—that fosters not only individual achievement but community transformation. At SFA, we don’t just prepare young men for success—we walk with them every step of the way.
