High School Programs

Achievers
High School Program

The Achievers High School Program delivers direct, on-site support to African American young men at partner high schools across the Bay Area. Our holistic, evidence-based approach addresses long-standing disparities in education by equipping students with the academic guidance, mentorship, and resources they need to thrive—both in high school and beyond.

We focus on ensuring that Achievers:

  • Complete A-G college preparatory course requirements

  • Maintain a 2.5 GPA or higher

  • Build the confidence and resilience needed to pursue higher education and career goals

These core benchmarks are critical indicators of postsecondary success. Research shows that students who meet these milestones are significantly more likely to enroll in and complete college.

To support these outcomes, the program offers:

  • Personalized academic advising and progress monitoring

  • College readiness workshops and application support

  • Financial aid guidance, including FAFSA completion

  • Mentorship, life skills training, and early career exposure

We evaluate impact through key performance indicators such as GPA, attendance, A-G completion, and school engagement. More than just academic support, the Achievers Program helps students envision—and prepare for—a future filled with opportunity.

Leadership Academy

The Leadership Academy is a transformative capstone experience that prepares African American high school seniors—and now juniors—for life beyond graduation. Rooted in SFA’s commitment to holistic development, the Academy equips students with the personal insight, leadership skills, and professional tools needed to thrive in college, careers, and their communities.

Participants engage in a dynamic year of:

  • College campus and career site visits

  • Competitive scholarship and internship applications

  • Workshops focused on identity, purpose, and leadership

  • Financial literacy, communication, and self-advocacy training

The Academy creates a tight-knit peer cohort that fosters mutual accountability, trust, and high expectations. Future Scholars grow in confidence and capacity, supported by mentors, role models, and a curriculum that emphasizes personal agency and real-world readiness.

More than a program—it’s a launchpad. The Leadership Academy empowers young men to step into the next phase of their lives with clarity, resilience, and a sense of responsibility to themselves and their communities.

Leadership Academy

Junior and senior years are pivotal in a young person’s life, as they prepare to transition into adulthood and face significant decisions about their future. Providing the right guidance and support during this time is essential to ensure a smooth transition, whether students plan to attend college or enter the workforce. Without this support, many may struggle—especially African American young men, for whom the challenges can be even greater.

San Francisco Achievers’ Leadership Academy is dedicated to helping high school juniors and seniors navigate these challenges. We recognize that education alone does not always lead to career success—access to professional networks is key. The Leadership Academy addresses this by equipping students with the tools and connections they need to build a future. Our program focuses on helping them develop a practical plan, build academic and professional networks, and transition smoothly from high school to either college or employment.

The Academy emphasizes education, empowerment, and exploration, fostering personal, social, and professional growth for each Achiever.
